About-us

Jeffreys Bay offers you more than you will ever imagine! It's full of lively characters, has an awesome summer holiday feel and gives you the warm feeling of wanting to stay and be a part of it!

Situated on the East Coast of South Africa, about 700km east of Cape Town and 80 Km west of Port Elizabeth, it is both at the beginning and end of the Garden Route and Sunshine Coast (depending on direction of travel). Jeffreys Bay is most commonly known for it's surfing qualities, however more recently is on the map for it's ideal year round climate, with only an average of 5 degrees difference between summer and winter. This means that time on the beach or experiencing outdoor adventure is possible for more months of year than other destinations! During summer, catch up on the body tan, walk for miles on golden stretches of beach, enjoy sunset hikes or beach rides, go paddling, sandboarding or swimming.  In winter there is almost always surf, but if not  look out for whales and dolphins, shop in the famous Billabong, Quiksilver, Country Feeling or Ripcurl factory stores, or simply chill out with a delectable slice of chocolate cake in your choice of coffee shop.

In July every year Billabong hosts one of the biggest sporting spectaculars of the world, the Billabong ASP Pro. This brings the  top 45 ranking surfers to test the longest and fastest wave, leaving fans cheering and gasping for more. Needless to say learning to surf has also become a thing to do and in JBay we have a number of quality surf schools with accredited coaches. Definitely a thing to do if you have never tried this exhilirating sport - look at our packages for Surfing and English.

Adventure is aplenty in this vibrant town. For the horse lover, a 14km beach ride along unspoilt terrain is an ultimate thrill. The feeling of freedom exudes as the wind blows through your hair.

Walking township tours are very popular and allow you to feel the spirit of the local people in Jeffreys Bay; learn the history, visit a shebeen, witness our volunteer projects and above all feel the happiness that exudes from individuals as you meet and greet them during the tour.

Those interested in dune adventure can try sandboarding, where beginners are welcome to start on the gentle slopes and graduate to the ‘Big One’.

Outside Jeffreys Bay the wild life safari world has grown immensely over the last 8 years. Prominent reserves such as Addo Elephant Park, Shamwari and Schotia are all within a couple of hours drive. All these parks offer first class hospitality and viewing, and allow one to track the big five in a malaria free environment.

As Jeffrey's Bay is a small town, it offers a safe environment for its visitors. Although it is always good to practise caution, students can be sure to have a more relaxed stay and feel safer in this homely town.

Jeffreys Bay has a lot to offer English Language students. So make the right choice today and experience this town while studying English in South Africa.
